A Paris Having arrived with the Eurostar at Gare du Nord Klaus and me headed for our hotel in the 19. Arrondissment. Paris did not welcome us very friendly - it was heavily raining and our hotel room was facing the Avenue Jaures and was quite noisy. The next day was completely different - the sun was shining and we got a room facing towards a quiet and leafy inner courtyard. With the  Metro we were heading for the Centre Pompidou from which we took tons of pictures. This special architecture is still very attractive and amazing. From there we strolled to the Hotel de Ville which is the city hall of Paris. Unfortunately some of the famous sites in Paris have been scaffolded and under construction. So was the city hall. Passing the Seine from there we walk to Ile de la Cité and its most famous attraction, the cathedral of Notre Dame. Did you know that all distances which are measured towards Paris have their end point at this place? After having taken enough pictures we walked at the south bank of the Seine in direction northwest until Pont des Arts, from where you have a beautiful view towards Pont Neuf and the Ile de la Citè. As the rain resumed we decided to finish our tour for that day. On Friday I started with a short visit of the Place de la Bastille, and then I joint Klaus for a photo session at the Avenue des Champs-Elysées. Beside this famous boulevard we also shoot pictures from the Arc de Triomphe and another highlight, the Eiffeltower. In the afternoon I visited my old quarter round the Rue de Grenelle, stopped by the church of Sainte-Clotilde and the Musee Rodin und continued to the Hôtel National des Invalides. Taking benefit of the sunny weather I took the Metro to Place de la Concorde with its famous obelisk, strolled through the Jardin des Tuileries until the small triumphal arch and the pyramid above the entrance to the Musee du Louvre. Klaus and I finished that day at a small Italian restaurant located near of our hotel. On Saturday the clouds returned. Thats why I did a shopping tour at the malls round Les Halles. From there I passed the small distance to Sainte Eustache for a quick visit and continued to the Louvre where I took a few missing photos. Just passing the Rue Rivoli I entered the Palais Royal with his courtyard full of columns and the interior garden. Unfortunately also this beautiful site is currently and will be subjected to renovation work in the next years so the photographic results were not at all satisfactory. At the end of the day I went to the Grand Palais and Petit Palais to take some pictures. On the Pont Alexandre III I shot some pictures from the golden stone statues and also from two wedding couples which have been photographed on the bridge. The next day - Sunday - was our last visiting day which Klaus and myself started in Montmatre at Sacre Coeur. I continued afterwards to the Institute de Monde Arabe with a fabulous view to Notre Dame and to the Pantheon. With a stroll through the Ile St. Louis i finished my discovery tour of Paris. Monday morning we returned to Munich by train (TGV and ICE). Rainy weather in Paris
